Council Tax - Empty Homes Premium

Details were given of a consultation paper from the Department for Communities and Local Government seeking views on the calculation of the council tax base in respect of properties subject to an empty homes premium.
A supplementary report gave details of and a suggested response to a further consultation paper on those properties to be exempted from the empty homes premium.
The Cabinet resolved that:
A response be made to the Department for Communities and Local Government:
1) to the effect that the Council agrees with the three proposals in the consultation paper on calculation of the tax base; and
2) on the basis set out in paragraph 1.6 of the supplementary report in respect of the consultation on exemption from the empty homes premium.
Reasons: As set out in the report and supplementary report of the Director of Finance.
